Jochum de Lange

Historien om eventyreren og krigeren, Jochum de Lange.

Jochum de Lange was once a vicious pirate who roamed the Northern Sea.
But after hitting a storm the size of Texas, his ship "Metal Heart" sank along with the treassure of Katalonia(a different story).
The young Jochum managed to grip on to the pieces of his boozelocker, wich helped him to stay above the surface. Five days later Jochum drifted into Hopen, the beach of Flatøy. Cold, hungry and exhausted, but with determination in his eyes Jochum de Lange set his foot on Temptation Island.

The simple farmers of Flatøy greeted him with open arms, and he soon settled down and embraced farmlife. Due to his badboy image, his good looks and charming appearence Jochum soon took three wives. Jochum was now living the typical 18th century- suburban way of life, with a farm, three wives and kids.

But the pirate within him, was not entirely dead. Jochum often found himself staring out to the sea, listening to the wind and talking to the waves. On a cold november morning in the year of 17666, Jochum would let his rage free. He was fed up with the frequent and unreasonable tax increases layed upon the poor farmers in Nordhordland.
Armed with shovels, courage, and a hatred deeper than the Salhusfjord, Jochum gathered the local men and set to concour Bergen.

Arriving in Bergen, Jochum and his men was greeted by the entire National Guard, stationed at Bergenhus Festning.
Jochum was easily outnumbered, but far from outgunned. The battle lasted for two days, until Jochum was the only one left and surounded by hundreds of soldiers.
Even tough Jochum was alone and wounded, the soldiers took no chances with the raging warlord.

He was offered to peacefully surrender, but as he stood there with his shovel raised high, the sky turned black and the ocean rose into a storm like the one who once sank his ship.
On a last heroic atempt, Jochum was stabbed through the heart.
Jochum was killed in the centre of Bergen, on the spot now known as "Den blå steinen".
Jochum de Lange was dead, but the legend and his spirit will live forever.
